Here & There : Jakarta, Indonesia

6.10.14

When I took this trip to Jakarta, I wasn't expecting anything, to be completely honest. I just know I need to escape from work for a while to clear my mind; escape to a different environment to think about life. On top of that, I have no idea where I wanna go, so I decided to go Jakarta to visit my friend Prili, who stay in a small town called Depok, approximately 30- 40 minutes away from Jakarta city.

Before I proceed, I want to thanks Prili for coordinating everything and making sure the trip run smoothly. She is the best host and awesome tour guide! Also, thanks to Prili's mom for welcoming me to their home and preparing breakfast every morning. Not to forget, new friends that I met in Prili's office. Every one of them are so friendly and lovely. Thank you for making my trip memorable one.

The view of National Monument tower (Monas) inside the Museum.

Prili picked me up early morning at the airport, then we headed back to her house to dropped my bag off. We get a little rest, then we head out to the museum. The National Museum has very interesting things to see from varying islands of Indonesia. The architecture of the building itself  has catches my attention. It was influence by Greek architecture, I love how they imply the Doric order in this building.

Beautiful sunset view at the roof top of the president office.

When you in Jakarta, don't forget to pay a visit to Grand Indonesia. I haven't been to many other malls in Jakarta, but I think it is an achievement in this city.  As a designer myself, what attracted me the most is the interior design of all the shops in the mall, even the toilets in every floors have different design. I walking around the mall feeling totally inspired. What new to me is the Magnum shop, as in Malaysia we doesn't have such fancy Magnum shop that selling ice-cream and dessert. It's really an eye-opening for me.
Next post I gonna share my trip to Banten Lama, a historic place that located out of the town with a group of amazing friend. Lastly, thanks Jakarta for giving me so much inspiration! xo
