Bali (1) : From Kuta to Ubud

7.7.13
Two months ago, I've been on a fun adventure trip with my buddy and meet up with my Indonesia friend, Prili, in Bali to travel together. We got so excited when we finally meet each other in the airport. We hugged and laughed, like a long lost sisters that found each other :)

We took a cab to the heart of Kuta to get our bus ticket to Ubud. From airport to Kuta is about 15 minutes or more, depends on the traffic. As a tourist attraction, traffic congestion will always occur whenever Kuta flooded with visitors. This is my second trip to Bali after 4 years, besides the traffic, Bali has changed a lot, the roadside path way much better now, no more uneven steps or potholes.

At Perama bus station has this cute little puppy, we couldn't resist not to play with it while waiting for our bus to Ubud. Then, we walk around nearby to hunt food to ease our hungry tummy. We came across this shop that sell sandwich and pizza  ( I can't remember the shop name), they named their sandwich in celebrities name. Now, we can eat Bob Marley, Shakira or Madonna up easily! Okay this sound wrong..

I bought the curry potato wrap from the shop. It taste so-so and its pretty hard for my braces teeth :-/

This old bus bounced a lot on the way to Ubud. We were too tired and we fell asleep. It's about 2 hours drive to Ubud town, it shake us up a few times when the bus going through the small bumpy road with fast speed. We have to hold on tight to balance ourselves.  It's very budget friendly, even though the bus not hugely comfortable but not a big deal to us. Driver was friendly and helpful. I pretty enjoyed the winds too.

The bus stop us at Jalan Hanoman, Perama bus station in Ubud.  I was quite happy to see they have the bebek guling (suckling duck) over there. We decided to have dinner there before we go to our guest house. The roasted duck is excellent! I also surprised that the avocado drink is so cheap in Bali. Overall, I am really satisfied with the dinner and service, not to forget, the very affordable price!

We spend a night at Kaleidoscope guest house. The house is colorful and full of inspiration! People that staying there is like a big family, they are very nice. My favorite part of the house is the swing with orange cushion and the beautiful garden with pretty flowers. It was unfortunate that we have to leave the house early in the morning when everybody is still asleep.  We left a note with our donations for the owner before we go.  We were being creative and decided to draw our face to make the note more interesting and memorable. haha.

The guest house is quite a distance from the town. It's better to have a motorcycle to travel around if you stay there longer. To save the transportation cost, we decided to walk to the town, it took us about 30 minutes to reached the town. Two reason that I love walking is because I get to discover new places and seeing the sights. Most of the time when you're on any type of vehicles, you will not really notice where you are or seeing any of the sights. By walking, you can admire them slowly.

Stay tuned for part 2...
