Thaipusam Festival 2013 in Batu Caves, KL

28.1.13

Thaipusam is celebrated by Hindus on the tenth month of the Hindus calender. It is a celebration of the birthday of Lord Shiva. In Batu Caves, you will witness one of the largest religious gathering, Hindus devotees from all over Malaysia and overseas will come celebrate in a 2 to 3 days event of Thaipusam Festival. Thaipusam is also being celebrated as localized event in other towns or cities, but the celebration in Batu Caves attracted million people every years.

I've staying in KL for about 15 years and this is my very first time participate Thaipusam event. What a shame! A friend of mine just happened to host a one day trip to Batu Caves, so I take this opportunity to join them. Without their positive energy, I don't think I'll bother to walk up 272 steps that leads up to the temple with the crowd! Overall, it was a really great experience, not only to learn more about the festival, I also get to make new friends. It's totally worth it.
