Siem Reap, Cambodia (2) : Floating Village

15.7.14
The Tonle Sap lake is about a 20-minute Tuk Tuk ride away from the centre of Siem Reap.

Get tires pumped and continue our journey to floating village. We add a stop at the nearby lotus farm. Unexpected beautiful scenery. On top of that, it was my very first time eat lotus seeds, its pretty sweet and fresh.
After a pretty difficult 20 minutes, going through the bumpy road and dusty surroundings.. we finally arrived at the port that leads to the canal that will bring us to the Tonle Sap. For a 20 USD entrance fee, I witness something that I can never see in my daily life. My heart sank when I see this kid... most of the children in Cambodia live in harsh condition. They have to come out working to help provide food for their families and they often do not receive any kind of education because they couldn't afford to go to school.

Cambodian still fish for a living. Whatever they get for the day is for their dinner.
There's a full fledged community, we saw not just houses but small businesses.
Many of the Cambodian still do their washing, cooking, bathing in Tonle Sap lake. It's also the same place they do their "business".( If you got what I mean.) The water is obviously polluted. I can't imagine myself can survive living there.
